"Moving Has Begun"
I'm writing to keep busy... so that I don't pay attention to the guys who are moving our furniture and boxes from the apartment to the house. These guys are essentially a "Two Men & a Truck" local outfit. They're 'insured' and all the usual proper credentials, but still... that's my stuff going out the door. Luckily, it won't be our personal possessions going out the door and then I won't see them for a week -- we're only going 2 miles. Yeah!
You know, I think this is the shortest move I've ever made. Unless back in Indiana when I was little; did we ever move less than 2 miles between houses?
Does this count as an official move? I think it does -- all things considering -- we've lived here for 6 months so it's more than just 'temporary' though it was supposed to be temporary, but go figure, we decided to build a house. (smiling) What number move does this make? I think that this is #20 if I counted correctly.
Flint
Detroit in the tudor style house (what street?)
Allen Park
Muncie X4 (Tilmore, Selma, the house with the bugs and the full moon when we left on vacation at 3am, the house out in the country in the subdivision where we were in 1976)
Beavercreek, Windy Court
Beavercreek, Rhett Drive
Grand Rapids
Bitely -- I'll only count the first house we lived in since I didn't have a bedroom in the big house with the white curtains
College (counted as one as a collective in and out from various dorm rooms -- 3 in fact)
My very First apartment (in BG)
Gettysburg, Krauth
Gettysburg apartment in Baughman
Washington D.C.
Gettysburg apartment in West Hall (or whatever it's called now)
North Dakota
Midland
South Bend Maple Lane apartment
The Madison House
Edinburg, the wonderful apartment I'm sitting in right now
201 Oregano
I guess it's actually 23 moves. I remember them all except for the Grand Rapids to Bitely move. I was in college then and received the "Dear Denise, you won't recognize your room when you get home---We've moved!" letter. But I still count it since I did have a bedroom. Am I forgetting any? I didn't count Maine since I was only there 3 months and was in a dorm setting. I guess theoretically it would count because I paid rent and cooked my food and washed my laundry there. Does it count?
Dave, do you have more than 23?
