Day 11

Active Waiting, part 2

No word today from RBe -- no news is good news at this point; besides, the worst case scenerio means waiting and we're already waiting...

In the meantime, let the active waiting commence.  We're moving into furniture and decorating mode.  This morning (after a delicious breakfast at a local cafe) we spent some time at Pier 1 and Bed, Bath and Beyond looking primarily at color.  The kids' rooms we're pretty well set on -- MELG's will be green, pink and various other floral colors and bugs -- a garden theme.   GDG's will be grey with blue accent and industrial looking. Then, there's the rest of the house.  Actually that sentence should read, then there's the rest of the house --question mark??? 

In the meantime, the search for Decorating Inspiration Images

Dark, wrought iron -- like our candlesticks.
Pillars -- an architecturally significant detail of the interior of the house
Hardwood -- we'll have tile throughout, but the concept of a multicolor, visually textured floor surface
Rugs -- texture and color contrast with floor
White -- it's a bit stark; color (to what degree yet to be determined) will add a wonderful (and yes, new...) depth and warmth

Day 12

MELG'S Room

I may have found the perfect comforter set for her room.  Pink, green, flowers -- bold, but not "teen" gaudy.  The flowers are bright, the honey bees are adorable -- what a great way to introduce 'bugs' into the garden, and and the overall combination of color and design are feminine yet not 'froo-froo.'    The two different colors of paint, with green under purple are adorably cute, but I'm not certain that it's what I had in mind.  I'd rather go all a very light shade of green or pink (Behr's Strawberry Yogurt or Cupid Arrow).

I also found a wonderful flower mobile at Pier 1 -- does it look like it would be better for a nursery or would it pass as moving 3D art?

Temporary Lodging

It's difficult for the kids right now to share a room.  I've tried to set up their room so that one section along the long north side of their room is all GDG's with his books, Bionicles, jars of collections, industrial bins that hold his current building projects (Lego), magic set and the rest.  His long red carpet sets a boundary for working on the floor within which he can declare a no-sister zone while building.  Then MELG's side is on the south side though admittedly it's less than half of GDG's.  She does have a few additional baskets hooked to the end of the shelf and the bed for books and tiny stuffed animals, plus a yellow cube that holds a basket of stuffed animals.  Her small rocking chair is there as well as so it's more like a cubby area.  It's cozy, but too small for much more than playing dress up with one doll at a time. (there's a photo of it at the bottom of Day 1, scroll way down) I look forward to begin able to give them both their 'own space' again.  It's more difficult for GDG and thus it's imperative to find other ways for him to stretch out.  Some nights he's asked to sleep in the living room on the hide-a-bed and we've said yes most times.  It gives him a chance to stretch his ever-growing, long legs and have a night out of the bedroom at the same time.  He's really not complained aloud about sleeping in the top bunk which is only a twin bed, but certainly he missed the bottom full size bed.  It's only temporary. 

No further information from RBe.  If I don't hear from them by noon tomorrow, I'll likely call or text.
