The Wait for The Half Blood Prince

7:30 a.m.   

GDG waits eagerly for the UPS delivery truck anticipating the arrival of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.  Armed with his wizarding outfit (still fits since Oct 31...), wand, stack of reading material and lawn chair he plans to wait patiently (???) until the book arrives.

NASA Kicks off the Fourth of July With a Bang

This is the stuff of big-budget disaster films (heck, they even named the entire mission after a big-budget disaster film), and yet, on this Fourth of July, NASA is celebrating the biggest collision to be engineered on purpose.

In the wee hours of the morning, at least for those living in the United States, the NASA impactor slammed into Comet Tempel 1, throwing up debris and giving the good folks at NASA more data then they could have ever hoped for, and a great show to boot. 

Take a peek at the scientist approved caranage.  The NASA site has a great gallery of pictures, as well as all of the pertinent information on the mission, their goals, their theories, etc. 

A job well done, NASA.
