Edinburg Signing ON

We're settling in, building a house, the kids are in school and life at First is moving along nicely!  Here are photos from the last day of school.

South Bend Signing-Off

Good friends, family, guests.  We bid farewell to the city of South Bend this afternoon.  The moving truck will arrive this morning, load all of our earthly possessions, and head for the great state of Texas.

South Bend has been a wonderful town to raise the kids, and we will always carry many fond memories of this place.

So to do we bid adieu to the good folks at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, one of the last bastions of liturgy done well in the Indiana-Kentucky synod.   We wish them well in their search for a new pastor, and pray that they will continue to grow in faithfulness to Christ's commands.

To those who wish to travel to Deep South Texas, we welcome you (especially during the ugly grayness of winter in Michiana (and points North).  To those already in Deep South Texas - We will be there on Sunday!

Yep, Busy As Can Be At the New Church

Chili_judges Council Meeting?  Prayer group?  Bible study?

Nah, this august assemblage of folks just so happened to be the judges for the First Lutheran Church Chili Cook-Off held just a couple of weeks ago.

All continues to go well with Denise's new call.  We continue to be deeply grateful for the warm reception of Denise and GDG by the tremendous folks at First Lutheran Church.

Hopefully MELG and I will be able to head south soon.

I promise that this end of the blogsite will be on a more regular schedule as soon as we are on a more regular schedule.  Don't forget that Canossa is still publishing at a decent clip, even if you find the content a bit dodgy (goes with the territory on that blog).  Also, take a peek at the latest letter received by GDG from his Texas project, to be found over at The Madison House blog.

Riding the Rails on the Texas Eagle

Texas_eagle_logo Denise and GDG have embarked on the grand trip to Edinburg, Texas, to begin to set up shop at the new church, First Lutheran Church.  Excitement and a few tears were quite evident at Union Station in Chicago, as they made their way to their sleeper car.  The latest phone call found them in Dallas, heading for Fort Worth.  They will disembark in San Antonio, where they will pick up the rental car and make their way to deep south Texas.  MELG and I have started to settle into our new routine (which is odd in the extreme, as it is far too quiet around here), and hope to sell the house as quickly as possible.  Pray that our time in two residences is short.

Thanksgiving Dinner

100_2604
GDG took this photo (standing on a chair) before we prayed and ate our dinner.  Thursday was a quiet afternoon with much leisurely cooking and only a small amount of working on the house.  We give thanks for all of the many, many, many blessings we've received.  Family (immediate and extended!), friends, church, faith, travel, good food, adventures, school and learning, a nice house, good health, and more ...  Thanks be to God.

Still Here...

100_2567_1

There's little more frustrating that hoping to see a blog with new content and to find the same item at the top of the page that's been there for the last 6 weeks.  Thus, here's a new photo and a brief explanation.

After living in our house for 7 years and having painted our bedroom the week we moved in and MELG's room 8 weeks prior to her birth, it's time to 'spiff up' the paint throughout the house and clean deeply.  With only a few weeks before snow flies when it will be very difficult to have the windows open for ventilation,  it's time.

Between painting, cleaning, various long range projects and full time homeschooling blogging has taken a brief hiatus, but check back soon.  When our hectic schedule slows I'll be back to greater blogging.  In the meantime, don't forget KAG's Canossa.

Steven Matthew Brown.

A Michigan artist.

His work intrigues me, especially New Works in SB until 9/11 and Platform.  His collaboration with Abby Maier strikes a chord with me in its utilization of lake sand and water in an abandoned Grand Trunk railroad platform in Ludington, MI.
